I have lost my job,my home,and (if the collectors don't stop), my mind. what are my options? I'm 56 and alone taking care of my father. can I just do nothing?

You basically have three options:

1) File for bankruptcy. This choice is NOT to be taken lightly and has some serious repercussions in the future.
2) Pay the debts.
3) Read your rights as provided by the FDCPA. This will NOT stop the debts, but could force the collection agents (not the creditors) from contacting you. The FDCPA can be found at:
