What is the name of your state? Ohio.
I have a large medical bill $50,000.00... I had no Insurance when I accured this bill. My Income is to low to pay all this off. I made arrangements with the people involved (i.e.) my doctor. the emergency room, ekg techs etc. to pay 10.00 per mo. and they all agreed except where the larger bill was for $37,000.00 they asked me to pursue different people who might give me aide to pay this bill. I followed all there suggested avenues and found only one that gave some help. I was then told by Summa that they would set up a payment plan for me where I could pay around 600.00 per month for five years. Thats Impossible for me to pay so I religiously payed them 10.00 a month like I payed everyone else. they have now sent my bill to a collection agency. Do I have to pay the collection agency? Can I just continue to pay the hospital or Summa. And If they collection agency continues to contact me and push me would this be considered harassment? I realize I will never get this bill paid off In my life time but I can't see paying them more because they want more and then not being able to pay someone else. Thanks

Nope. You don't HAVE to pay them anything.

Yep.

Generally, no. However, as a 3rd party collector, there are some things that they are prohibited from doing. Read the Fair Debt Collections Practices Acct.
