(State:WV) The college I am now going to originally told me (several time by different people I might add) I could get credit for the college classes I had archived during high school. The credit were backed up by a local college near the high school. I gave them all the information about the credits. The only thing they needed to do was basically get my transcripts from the high school for me to get credit.

Which was the only reason why I decided to go to that college in the first place I might add.

It was about a half a year into going to this school, when I was told that they cold not transfer the collage credits.

What kind of legal action can I take against the college?
I have been thinking that this is a form of bait and switch.

Any help is apricated!
Thank you for your time

I asked someone higher up about not getting credit for the classes and they have also told me I could not get credit.
(that was just recently so I have been in school about a year now)
Originally when I had given then the information about the credits, I was told multiple times time 2 different people I could transfer the credits.
(which those same people are saying no now)

I understand that they said, after a year and a half, that they cannot give you credit for these classes. But did they tell you WHY?

Wanted to answer the question asap, since I'm at school I re-registered an account.

The collage is saying "They were not from an official college"

I used to live in mi and the college is http://www.delta.edu/
(I'll keep my current college's name private)

Thank you for the help quincy.

The information from Delta's website sure makes it seem as if credits earned there are transferable, although in checking out the colleges and universities that they list, it does seem to suggest, also, that it is at the discretion of the other various colleges and universities whether to accept the credits or not. The conditions required for transfer vary from university to university (for instance, a grade of C or better may be one condition for credit transfer).

I know that community college credits can often be transferred, but only if the university you are transferring to has a "like" course, and it often won't transfer at all if it is not relevant to course requirements for your major. Earning 4 credit hours at a community college, also, may only result in a 2 hour credit at the university.

It appears that Delta is an NCA regionally accredited community college, so I don't understand the "not official college" comment**************

You know, I am not sure what to tell you. I think the academic counselor at the college or university you chose to transfer to should have been able at the beginning to tell you exactly what was transferable. By indicating your credits would be approved, I can see why you are upset, especially since you based your enrollment at that college on the fact that the Delta credits would be good there. The only reason that I can think of as to why they may have changed this credit approval after a year and a half is that your course of study did not accept the classes toward your major or minor.

Can you take some sort of legal action against this first college? I don't know. There are so many variables here it would be hard to say. Perhaps reviewing all of the information you have with an attorney would be wise.

Yea I would think the academic counselor would have known right away if I could transfer the credit or not (or could look the info up).
We actually went over how many credits I would get if I went there (about 19 I think).
So for them to go from 19 to none just totally astonished me

So I guess talking to an attorney will be my next step......
