What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?ny

i was recently expelled from a suny college for breaking down the door
i was locked in my room and the univ police dispatcher wasnt getting me any assistance so i ended up breaking down the dorm door. The school has added $2000 to my bill for the door and wont release my transcript until it is paid
pls help

At most schools, it is standard procedure to ask the person who incurred damage to pay for it. It is also SOP not to release a transcript, yearbook, diploma, etc. if a student owes the school money.

Having said that, I'm curious in a few areas. Was this the main door to your room? Did the lock have to be changed (which would then require your roommates/suitemates to be issued new keys)? [If this was a main door, did everyone have to get new keys?] Did the door contain glass? All those things (plus the cost to pay someone to do the work) truly add up.

What circumstances led to you being locked in? Why couldn't or wouldn't the dispatcher help you?

Unless you have a very compelling story (e.g. someone had a weapon and your life was in danger), you are more than likely on the hook for the damage.
I hope the school is not considering pressing criminal charges.
