Hi,

I came up with an idea for a video. I then told it to another person. We worked on something and it didn't pan out.

Now I've decided that I want to do something related to that video. If I do it, can the other person lay claim to the video or claim any of the profits?

He keeps saying that since we talked about the idea, he has a 50% claim.

We didn't sign anything before and have no written contract about intellectual property.

Thanks,
Videoman

Ideas can not be copyrighted. So if all you did was talk about it and there was no agreement arrived at, he has no claim to the intellectual property. If, however, you both started work on the video and if some video does exist, he would have a right to property in that.
