What is the name of your state? California

I am the owner/moderator of a message board. Today, someone created a username similar to that of another. "R1-Ryder" versus "R1-Ryduh"... and posted a comment in response to an ongoing thread about possible "malpractice" at a local store. "R1-Ryder" happens to own the store, and "R1-Ryduh" posted saying that he was at the store once, and saw such and such happening (did not claim to be R1-Ryder, and in fact referred to the man in third person).

Now, I get an email from the store, threatening to file a slander suit against ME unless I remove the entire thread about their store. My thoughts are:

1. They meant libel (written).
2. They have no case against ME, because I have made no possibly defamatory statements.
3. Their issue is with the person "R1-Ryduh", and should contact him regarding their concern.

I am irritated because I can't stand when people make empty threats to sue someone just to try and get their way. I am 99.9% sure that they have no case against me, and DO NOT want to delete and remove threads just because of some little threat. People have the right to bring up issues about a store, if the store is doing something wrong...

Anyway, can someone please advise me.

Thanks.
