What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Texas. Well I screwed up on this one. I rented a commercial building from a church pastor. In our final draft of the lease it states that we have an option to cancel the lease after the first year with a 60 day notice. A year later, I reviewed the lease and that sentence now consists of 5 words "Each party to this lease agrees," and then it is blank. It now reads as a three year lease with escalations. I know that it was intentionally deleted, probably to help aquire bank financing, which was subsequently done by the pastor. Regardless, it was my fault for assuming that the document with my signature was the same as the final draft sent by e-mail,that both parties had agreed to.
In another forum, someone stated that a residential lease longer than a year has to be witnessed by another person. This lease is not witnessed. Anyone know what the law is in Texas? I am grasping at straws here for sure, but I just wanted to know.
