What is the name of your state? Mich. I am planning on divorcing my husband. He moved out of Mi. house on 12-13-05 and I do not know his whereabouts. He has extensive credit card debt. We went to my inherited home in 2001, of which I only, returned to my main residency in Mi. for several months over the last 3 yrs. I have no idea of when he got these cards, as he went bankrupt in 1997, "pre qualified offers" I guess. I believe he opened some if not all these accounts while living in Mich. between 1997 and 2001, he could have opened some of them while in Az. from 2001-2002. I have always maintained Mich. as my primary residence, his Mi. drivers license expired in 2003 and he obtained an Az. one. Basically, what I am saying is he used my Az. house address for these cards, or changed his address with credit card co.'s from Mich. to Az., both issues could apply. I have got to go to Az. for some business within the next 2 weeks, I am scared to death these credit card co.'s are gonna try and come after me. I maintain the Az. house as a secondary residence. Also, I am considering filing for divorce there to protect inheritance, (would be cheaper for me to get stuck with half the debt, instead of him getting part of the equity in those houses that I believe he is gonna try and get, I will file for residency there to file for divorce there), since it is a community property state, the minute the divorce is filed and these companies find out, I am scared they will try and sue me and attach my 2 homes. Or will the divorce proceedings hold them off until divorce is done???

I felt my questions all had different aspects to them, if read individually, you'd see that. They all sound alike because I just wanted to give backround I believed was useful and pertained to the question. The backround is the backround, it hasn't changed, but the questions are different.

Then you need to keep them all in ONE thread.... rather than just 'shotgunning' them all over the forum.
