What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado
Citibank froze all of the accounts of my dad by having the court send seizure papers to the bank. One of which was mine. His name was on it because I was a minor and it had to be, and I once I turned eighteen I was stupid enough to leave it on there. the account contained over ten thousand dollars of mine. ALL mine. If I can prove the money is mine can I get them to release it? The bank wouldn't even release a copy of the order to me because my social security wasn't on it. They also said that because he was a signer on the account that he had full rights to the money and that what they did was legally justified. Please help.

Okay heres the deal, since your dad is on your account the bank has to freeze it.

In New York, when there are 2 names on a single account 50% is deemed to belong to the primary account holder and 50% is deemed a gift to the secondary account holder. Check CO's rules on this it might be the same, might be totally different.

One problem you are going to run into is that, from the info you provided it sounds like you are not a party in this action. So it's not like you can show up to court yourself and have a hearing to show the court non of the money belongs to your father.

Cases like yours do sometimes happen, and what normally happens in a family member situation is that father pays bill for son, son pays back father vice versa switch the relatives however you would like.
