Company using fake Caller Id

Hi,

Im not sure if im posting this in the right area so I apologise if its in the wrong place.

I have dealings with a company that calls me on a regular basis. I have Caller ID on our phone. When this particular company calls, they use false caller Id names. Sometimes its a different business name, sometimes a private name/number and sometimes it comes in as been from our own phone!

I was wanting to know what , if any, legal ramifications such practices have.

I would think for businesses, this should not be allowed by law.

The last time they called, they used the name and number of a Tv station.

Can anyone tell me what right I and they have in this sort of case?

I can't tell you the law on this, but in most states, the phone company will either tell you what the law is or they will handle this themselve.
