hi, not sure if you are able to offer advice, due to this being from uk. any way
i have been thinking about making a complaint against a school. to cut a long story short.
on the way to school a few pupils were messing about and it ended up with a stone being thrown, not by my son, and a child got injured. fracture skull, had to have an operation.
this was purely an accident,it wasnt in school grounds.
a teacher became involved. a statement was taken without any parents being involved. one of the teachers at the school was screaming and shouting and banging the table because they thought my son was lying.
my son was expelled for three days, due to go back tomorrow. the police has been involved, although we havent seen the police as yet. abd this was 5 days ago.
the teacher in question refused to take my phone calls, i took a day off from work to speak to her. when eventually i spoke with the teacher, she acqused my son of waiting with intent to harm a pupil travelling to school, she in so many words, accused him of the act, altough there were witnesses to say that he was not invoved and the boy who did it ran away when he realised what he had done. she then went on to say what he was like in school and that is why she thought that he had done this, and that he malicisasly waitied for someone to hurt basically. when i tried to talk with the teacher on the phone, she twisted everything i said and became quite aggressive in her manner. this is all we can take from this school, since he joined the comprehensive school, we have had lots of complaints, although my son is under the special needs umbrella, we feel that this school has failed him and is making him a scape goat. it was only at christmas time we discussed moving my son to a different school, but my son wasnt happy to move, educationally he hasnt improved since primary schoool in fact i would go as far to say his learning ability has decreased. his attitude to teachers isnt very good, because he informs us that all they do is shout at him and dont treat him as an individual with his own needs. i do feel that the teacher had no right to make comments that she did, and i am not happy for my son to go back to the school, but keeping him from school would only make him look guilty and i want him to go back with his head high. as he has only 5-6 weeks left untiul the end of the year, we are starting to get the ball rolling to move schools this week.
thank you for your time,
menna

We can't really help you, as laws in the UK are DRASTICALLY different than in the USA.

Common sense, though - what will you accomplish by making a complaint against this teacher? It would be better on focusing on your own son and his behavior, and getting him socially and educationally on the same track as his peers.

If your son gets charged with something through the police, take good notes on everything that happened (in fact, right now, you should sit down and journal everything that happened, dates, times, places, names - to keep your facts straight. Having that in court if it goes to court, would be invaluable)

Good luck, and keep your kiddo on the straight track!
