While on a business trip in a different county from my home, I had 2 glasses of wine with my dinner and stupidly chose to drive to the hotel. I was arrested and charged with DWI after blowing 1.3. I did not want to call my wife and did not have anyone else to call, so I chose to spend the night in jail. The next morning I was able to get my car out of impound and because the attendant did not ask to see my license, I drove it away. I stayed on the business trip and wanted to wait and tell my wife in person. I made another stupid decision and drove home. Taking the exit for my house, I was stopped at a checkpoint and was charged with driving on a suspended license. I now have charges in 2 counties. I am a professional in a public service profession. I have a clean driving record and absolutely no criminal history. I do not even drink on a regular basis. This was a stupid thing and I'm not sure how to procede or how dire the consequences will be. I am not a risk at all to society. Could someone advise?

First off two glasses of wine does not get you a DWI.

I would get a really good lawyer. You will need one for this case.

A DUI followed by a suspended license beef is not going to look good for you.

And, as Magic pointed out, you do not get a .13 BAC on two glasses of wine with dinner.

Contact a DUI attorney Monday morning.

To blow .13, you would've had to drink the equivalent of at least two six-packs of beer, more or less.

Are you sure you didn't drink two BOTTLES of wine?

You are definately leaving something out, are you having blackouts?
Aparently you can't metabolize your alcohol very well.
What profession, a DWI could affect your license in some instances.
You need to get a good attorney and stop driving on your suspended license.
Then you need to fess up to your wife:eek: since she will be driving you or you will be using public transportation.

A 1.3? Even if you meant a .13, you were a risk to society. You knew you had more than two glasses of wine, infact you were no doubt stumbling. You knew you had no license and yet thought you were above the law.

You need to be prepared to shell out thousands of dollars for a lawyer.
