Yea, when you do deceptive things life can get complex quickly. I don't think anyone here is going to give you much help on trying to protect yourself from the consequences of your attempts to avoid any of a number of laws. Tax fraud and mortgage fraud come to mind. I'm not sure it was a "bit reckless of me to do this without any legal contracts in place" as such contracts would have been evidence of the crimes.

I'm glad you have an attorney giving you advice. I am uncertain as to if you actually have one or if you have told him all the facts.
