unreal advice!!!

thanks a lot!! that was wonderful advice....I don't know anything in law, but chances are good that "being served" would be a universal term and I was hoping to get some pinch of advice from our "helpful" neighbours......hopefully someone else with the smallest bit of understanding will answer me with an INTELLIGENT response!

Okay, lets try this again....
From the top of the page.... Questions about U.S. law ONLY!

We are NOT experts on laws from other countries and any 'offering' would be a guess at best.

US it will be!

ok....I am from Seattle and I have a collection agency calling me and telling me "i've been served", what exactly does this mean...also, for a small amount that I owe (under a grand), are they just trying to scare me? any response would be lovely.
