I have a signed contract proposal with a contractor to pour a slab in my back yard. The contract does not specify a beginning or completion date. I have paid 70% of the total cost up front. Seven weeks have passed
while the contractor promises to begin my job but has failed to show up. Do I have a right to expect him to perform within a reasonable time since the contract was signed (7weeks ago) ? Do I, at this time have any legal recourse ?
Thank you.

File a complaint with the state contractor licensing board. Maybe he's actually licensed & you can file a claim against his bond. He should have shown up by now, since he's promised to start the work. If you think he never intended to do the work when he took your money, you can file theft charges agaisnt him.
