In 1996, in the state of FL, I had a car repossessed. I do not recall ever having received anything after that as to when the car would be auctioned, when it sold and for how much it sold. I have now been contacted by a collection agency, after hearing absolutely nothing for nearly 5 years telling me I owe the balance. I do not dispute the repossession. But I have asked for proof that I was contacted about the sale as well as what it sold for. Isn't this required in FL? Do I have any recourse? How can I be sure that what the amount they are asking me to pay is correct?
