What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WI

I am asking this on behalf of my brother. Long story short. My niece his daughter is now a teen and is wild, wild, wild. My brother puts his foot down but his ex lets her roam and do as she pleases. So of course my niece would rather live with her Mom now. My brother is not necessarily opposed to this but does want there to be ground rules. Grades need to be kept up, that kind of thing.

For whatever reason his ex has decided to hire a lawyer instead of just handling it themselves.

My brother just remarried in June and the women who preformed the ceremony is now his ex's lawyer. He is wondering if this is a conflict legally? Also she is trying to tell my brother that she can act as their mediator? I thought a mediator is supposed to be a nuetral party, is she just trying to trick him or what?

This attorney cannot act as their mediator if she is representing the ex or STBX.
did she offer to write up the agreement between the two or did she say she would act as their mediator?

A mediator is supposed to be entirely nuetral, a lawyer representing one of the parties could never be nuetral as they have a legal obligation to act in their clients interests....
