What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado
I'm beginning the process of possibly applying for SSI. Because of my medical issues I haven't worked enough, recently enough, to qualify for disability, so I'm looking at SSI. My question currently is about my husband's income and how much will be deemed to me. I've been reading over this link: http://www.disabilitysecrets.com/counting-marital-income.html and I'm getting confused. The info it says at the start of the page doesn't seem to add up with the examples it gives. If I do the math, as it appears to me at the top of the page, then his income brings us about $61 over the limit and I won't qualify (his monthly income, plus mine, minus 361 for each kid). But when I look at the examples it sounds like I would qualify. I don't work so we only have my husband's income. I have 3 kids but one recently turned 18, though I do still support her as she hasn't been able to find a job (I assume since she's 18 though that I can't count her). He makes about $1865 a month before taxes.
I'm going to be looking for a disability lawyer locally but so far haven't found anyone, so I figured I'd ask here in the meantime. Thanks.
