A few years ago I was involved in a small accident. The police were called an the other driver received a ticket. Now, years later, I have obtained a driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety. It has the accident listed with the date, then it says “accident non-injury” along with the city it took place. My questions are why it is there, did I miss some action taken against me, does that mean that I was determined to be liable, or does the state of Texas list everyone involved in an accident and then distinguishes who was liable? HELP! I’m getting a headache just thinking about it.

Thanks,

Very concerned driver.

Call the DPS and ask if this indicates that the state thinks you were at fault, or if it merely shows you were in an accident but sustained no injuries. States like to track who's been in accidents - being the victim of a suspicious number of accidents can indicate possible insurance fraud.

This is not legal advice and you are not my client. Double check everything with your own attorney and your state's laws.
