What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Illinois

I am in the midst of trying to get pre-qualified for a home loan, AND they advised me to pay off my CA accounts.

Question:

I thought that.... "paying off CA accounts would decrease my credit score"?

Does it matter how old or new they are?

Can I have some advice on this situation?

In my opinion, it will not make a difference in your score. If it does, it will be small.

The mortgage lender is wanting this crap cleaned up for a different reason. If one of those collection accounts should decide to sue and garnish wages, etc., then your ability to make your loan payment is at risk.

If you want their money, you got to play by their rules.
