What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?Texss (we live in Texas, but the cause is in Quebec)

My wife is the conservator for her mother's financial affairs (the mother lives in Quebec, Canada), and was told by an agent of the "Curateur Public", in Quebec, that she could receive compensation for her work--but he would not give any estimate as to how much this could be. What I would like to know is if there are any general guideline in the US or Canada for the amount of compensation she should ask for.
