Consideration for life-story rights

What is the name of your state? PA

I am an individual who is writing a story about a family that is facing legal hardships, but soon may overcome them. I would like to get their life-story rights in order to "pitch" the story for possible movie production.

What can I offer them as consideration for granting me their rights, other than a flat dollar amount? If I were they, I probably would want to consider compensation based on box office gross, plus e.g. video/DVD rentals. But I lack the financial resources or the power to offer such consideration.
