What is the name of your state? Illinois

Back in August we entered into a contract for an addition on our home. Since day one of the work I've been blogging about the construction...including pictures. It didn't matter if things were going well or poorly I blogged. I don't believe I pointed fingers such as "my roof is leaking because HE did it wrong" I only posted "my roof is leaking". Now, my contractor has quit without finishing the job. He claims he's not comfortable working at my house because I lost my cool when my new fan got the blades broken. He's said that my blog is "slander" (his term not mine). Being that everything in the blog is true...in my opinion...would it be considered libel?

Thanks in advance.

It could be.

Truth, of course, is a defense against libel. Opinion, however, is tricky. And naming specific people, or companies, on blogs is even trickier.

Companies zealously guard their reputations and, even when something truthful is printed about the company, if it affects their business reputation and income, they can get angry enough, or worried enough, to sue. It would really require a careful look at your blog to determine whether any potential libel suit brought against you would be successful, however.

As for walking out on the contract, you have possible legal recourse against the contractor there.
