My husband and I live in Wisconsin we are renting an 1 bedroom apartment. Our lease is up in May. The first week in january we had severe water leaking in our bedroom the wall facing outside is completely brown with water stains and is now moldy(black mold) we now sleep in our living room (since first week in january. Our apartment complex was on the news and there are 36 units that have water damage. we have been in contact with the manager constantly and the only response is that it will get painted in april or may when the snow meltsfrom the roof. This is unsatisfactory to us. we are moving febuary 17th and have withold our $600.00 rent. How do we get out of our lease agreement. Iam now getting sick from the mold and i need help to end this situation if there is any advice legally it would be greatly appreciated. nomy

Take lots of pictures, and see if you can get a videotape of the new report.

They will of couse try and sue you, but you have a good case
