What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Tennessee
My son signed up with a consumer credit reduction company. They told him they would handle all creditors and would stop all creditors from calling. He had a monthly amount taken out of his bank account. The company did nothing. The creditors continued to call, several times a day. Two years ago, one company was going to take him to court, so he settled with them. Recently, he has had to go to court again. The credit company will not answer his phone calls. When he finally did get in touch with them, he told them he wanted his money back. He signed a letter and returned it, but they will only give him about one-third of his money back, even though they did not do one thing for him. I think there is a Tennessee Consumer Protection Act. Is it too late for him to recover more of his money? Can he still sue them if he signed the paper to get part of his money returned? He is worried about going back to court and wanted to have some money for the creditors. I feel this company was nothing but a scam. He paid them over $3,000 dollars and did not receive one thing in return. What can he do?
