I purchased a digital camera at a local chain store in Illinois and upon returning home I discovered by floor tags still attached and handling of the camera that this had been a floor model. It would be easy to just exchange, but I was told this is the last camera in store of a replaced line. Is this practice legal without notifying the consumer? What is if any the consequences for this action and under what laws would I begin a search for consumer rights? Thanks for your replies ... feeling a little ripped off.

Was this a marked down clearance good deal to pass up on sale model? Or did you pay regular retail price?
It is only fraud if it says Sony but is actually made in Korea and really is a Sunny.

Not at all Guru it was a full price sale. If it was a super deal or presented as such I would not have posted or have felt taken advantage of. It seems to me I was not sold, what any consumer buying a new product should be able to assume, just that a new product. I drove all the way home to open a resealed package containing an abused floor model camera. The whole thing reeks of deception. Thanks for the input.

Ok then, take it back and get a refund or exchange it for a brand new camera. You did not get what you paid for. If you bought a new one they can not sell you a used one in place of a new one.
