Grandmother was put on policy when I (oldest child) was 6. Since then my mother had 7 children. Recently my mother was killed. The policy was never changed. She had six of the seven living with her at the time of death. My grandmother and I agreed that I would take the children and she would give us the insurance money when it came. I have had custody since before she died. That did not occur and so my question is do we have any recourse?

My response:

Unless Granny voluntarily hand the money over to you, then that money is all hers - - lock, stock and barrel. You have no recourse. Simply, the money isn't yours, and you have no legal standing in the matter of the insurance money.
