My husband and I agreed to buy
from my brother, a home for
$30,000. He typed out a contract
for deed, which I assumed was
legal. I found out he does not
own the property and has only a
quick claim deed which is about to
be foreclosed on. I gave him a
downpayment on the house and have
been making payments for over a
year . Do I have any legal rights
to ownership of this house or am I
just out all of the money I've
invested?

Obviously you can't have more rights to the property than he did. That does not mean he had no rights, or that you do not have any rights against him. This needs a lawyer to sort out for you one on one.
