What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

We have a friend in financial trouble, and are considering hiring him to do some odd jobs around our house; however, we are concerned about the possibility of him injuring himself.

Do homeowners' policies typically cover these types of workers? I know they cover injuries that occur on your property, but I thought if you were paying someone that created a different situation?

We were considering having him sign a liability waiver, but are unsure if that is legal in Texas. Is it ok to ask him to sign a liability waiver? Would that be legal and enforceable here in Texas?

I don't anticipate him actually being injured, with the type of work we'd have for him to do, but would rather be on the safe side.

your HO1 will not insure anyone working in or around your home.

maybe you could have a talk with your ins rep to see if there is something you can add, or do you need a whole new policy.

It would be unwise to hire anyone who is not licensed and insured on their own to do work on/in your house.
