Our kitchen suffered water damage on December 23,2005. We filed an insurance claim with our insurance provider. The adjustor sent the contractor to do the work on the home. It has been one problem after the next. It is now going to be March 31,2006 and we are still trying to get the work finished. First of all, when they ripped out the cabinets and the appliances, they put the dishwasher, downstairs next to my wifes sewing table. They laid the ragetop and the sink on top of the dishwasher. They sink and stovetop fell off of the dishwasher and landed on my wifes sewing machine. We just discovered that this broke a piece of the sewing machine. The sad part is that my wife uses this as her means of income as she sells sewing items. Secondly, they painted the first time without filling in the holes or primer or sanding etc. They also, screwed the undermount lights directly into the bottom of the cabinets. My wife cut her hand on a screw as she was cleaning the new cabinets for the first time. Also, they refuse to reattach our dishwasher. They lack the job knowledge and say that we must pay for an outside party to reinstall the dishwasher that was working just fine before the incident. When they redid the pluming, they left out the washers that connect the sink to the first drain pipes. When I tried to drain the sink the water went everywhere. I had to pay to have this redone. The contractor refuses to pay me back for this work or will not pay for the sewing machine or the new sink I had to buy or repair the undermount lights. Also, the shoe molding is too dark and does not match at all. They stained it too dark. The supervisor stated to me that he is afraid to take up the shoemolding because he may damage the new cabinets and scratch the new floor. He also, stated that he has been having an extremely difficult time with the employees. He admitted to me that one of the guys was in our home for about a month under the influence of alcohol. He was released. However, this may be some of the problem. The supervisor also stated that for our inconvience of all that has happened that the contractor agreed to waive our deductable or 500.00 and that the shoe mold and the dishwasher would be fixed within a week. I don't think that it is proper for a contractor to leave a person's property broken and in disrepair. There are additional things that are wrong but I am trying to cover the most important items. Any advise would be appreciated.
