Two years ago my wife and I agreed to take in my mother and stepfather both in their 80's. They said that they would rather invest their money in a home and live with family rather than go to a nursing home.

We agreed, and had a home built with all of our names are on the contract. My wife and I used all of our savings and took out a loan to help pay for this home! As was agreed, my mother and stepfather paid most of the cost as in exchange we would take care of them.

It has been nothing less than a nightmare ever since! My mother is a very controlling person and she constantly threatens to take away this house that we all put so much into! I regret ever getting involved in this horrible mess! I just thought at the time it was in everyone's best interest.

My wife takes constant care of them both. She takes them on errands, does their laundry, cooks for them, cleans, etc. My mother has always been an angry person, but she is worse than ever! Everytime she gets upset over any little thing, she threatens to take away the house!

My question is, could she take away the house? My wife and I have put so much into this and we are threatened on a daily basis!

Thank You

My response:

Just tell her, "Mom, shut up. You don't know what you're talking about. Our signatures and names are on the contract too. You can't do a damn thing unless we sign to sell the home. You're stuck, just like we are. And, you know what? The next time you mention this again, I'm having you committed to the Asylum."
