Would it be illegal to display an entire web site (without altering it whatsoever) in the mainframe of my own site (while the head frame has my site name on it).
Do I need the permission from the owner of the site, or a legal disclaimer or ...?

Google "framing" and "copyright"

It's a hot issue. You certainly can be sued for infringement. Even if you win it will be an inconvenience to you.
