Hello.

I have a general question regarding Copyrights on Audio Compact Disks I have
purchased over the years.

I read thru the Audio Home Recording Act, but it just confused me. I have a
home computer with a recently purchased CD Re writable kit from Pacific
Digital. I am not sure if it has SCMS as part of it's internal workings or
not. Am I allowed to make private noncommercial copies of copyrighted music,
for
archival purposes?

The danger from hurricanes ever present where I live in Florida, and my collection
could be destroyed in an instant.

I would ship my archive to my brother over 300 miles away for safe keeping.
Being up front with you, he would likely listen to them as well as hold them
for me.

Thanking you in advance;

Michael

Yes you may. As long as you do not sell/distribute. Also, the copyright police are not outside your door! So, relax! This is coming from someone who worked in an organization dedicated to anti-piracy.
