Hello from the Bronx, NY:

I'm in the early stages of collaborating with a friend on a screenplay. Assuming we eventually sell our creation, I want to be sure that we split whatever we get 50/50. Thus, my questions are:

1). What sort of contract do we need to draw up to formalize this arrangement.

2). Admittedly not exactly a legal question, per se, what's the most tactful way of broaching this subject so that my friend remains my friend (and does not become simply someone with whom I'm collaborating)?

Thanks so much!!
