What is the name of your state? Florida. I have been delving into the realm of photography and have been told that I have images that are likely to come into demand and that I need to copyright protect them. However, I believe the main concern there is if someone publishes them without authorization. My collection is by far not small and at $20 each for registration, they could be costly to cover.

Also, I have them in digital format as well and would like to use some to build a photo album web page to help attract attention to a place I work as a volunteer for. A large number of these images are ones I have been advised to copyright protect. I have seen that it is advisable to put copyright information on the works but also am reluctant to do so due to it lowering the appearance quality.

So, my question comes down to what is advisable to do with them, lower the appearance quality or not? Register them or not? It would seem that registration would not be necessary with photos due to the existance of originals both negative and in print. It would seem that those originals would be sufficient should the need arise. But is that the legal view?

As the photographer, the copyrights belong to you. You should put a small disclaimer on them, at the bottom or side, saying Copyrights on this photo belong to whoever. Even without it, though, you own those pics. Period. Unless you decide to sell them or license someone else to.
