I'm currently living in Massachusetts, but the photographer lives in Michigan.

I was wondering something about the copyright law. I went to order enlargements of our wedding photographs from January 2003, and recently discovered that the photographer declared bankruptcy and closed his business. Who now owns the copyright to the photographs? How can enlargements be made when the photographer can no longer be contacted?

The photographer would still own the copyrights, unless they were transferred to someone else as part of the bankruptcy proceedings (pretty unlikely, but you never know) or had been transferred to you as part of your contract.
