What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York
Corporate Card used by someone else

Got a letter from collection agency that corporate card has balance 15K. Left company 2 years ago and owner assured that he changed ownership of the card.
Now after 2 years somebody (maybe owner) put charges and not paid.
Spoke to collection agency person. They are saying I'm guarantor and should pay. I was an employee at the company and left it w/out any debt on this cc.
How to handle this? I'm not the one who used this card. I turned it down to an owner.

No, This company doesn't exist and as I know filed for bankrupcy but I have no ties to this company since 2007 so don't know for sure. How can I check the status of the company?
