What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MI
I created a revocable trust with a quite claim deed to the trust. My attorney, who is also a notary public, notarized all the documents. However, he made a mistake on his commission expiration year. It should have been 2012 instead of 2016, so he handwrote over the 6 with a 2 on all the pages he notarized.
I have been asked before to create a new quit claim deed when my middle initial was left out (can't hand write it in). But is it OK in this case for him to just maually correct it like he did, since it is just a commission expiration date which I assume is not a "material" item? Will the county clerk accept the quit claim deed with the handwritten correction? I don't want my trust and quit claim deed to turn out invalid just because a little typo was not corrected properly. He said it was OK, but I would like some confirmation.
Thanks.
