about a year ago I finance a car because my credit was not the best I was required to have a cosigner I have my grandmother co-sign her credit was better than mines so they placed her as the primary account holder with me being the co buyer not sure how that works exactly but I do know that's how it's listed on the contract since the day that the car is pulled off the lot I've always had the car I've always made the payment as well as car insurance lately my family has been going through some issues with regards to a death and the will my grandmother is mad at my mom therefore is taking it out on me I guess I'm guilty by association she came to my home last night and stole the car about midnight I was advised that because we live in New York state they allow two people to register the car at the same time if both names are on the title I was also advised the car is legally 50% Minds as well as hers I'm not sure what my legal right is as far as regaining access to my vehicle my car was parked on the street last night which is why they said she was able to take it however she has my car now on her private property blocked in by another vehicle so that I would be unable to leave I've called the police and gotten an escort over there to get my car however she's refusing to answer the door and they stated that they can't make her move her car in her private property what legal rights do I have as far as getting my car back please help.
