What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

My cosigner on my car tow it and i call police, the police told me it was repossessed by toyota financial services, i call them and they told me they didn't repo the car, i call back the police and the police give me the phone number of the person that call them saying it was the from the toyota financial services and it was from my cosigner, he pay the balance on the car and he does not want to give me back my car or at list part of the money, the title is only on my name, he knows people in that company so im afraid they change that, what can i do to get my car back?

If the title is ONLY in your name (and his is not shown anywhere on the title), contact the police and report the auto THEFT.

I suggest you contact the lender (Toyota Credit) and get an account statement from them showing that you are NOT in arrears and that they did NOT repossess the vehicle. You also need to get a statement from the police as to the facts of the repo.

That statement loses me. There is no COMPANY that holds the title. The title is held by the lienholder.... with the records of the title at the state.

If his name was on the title, he is a co-owner. Toyota would not be an owner, but they might have been the lienholder. Only the state could change the name(s) on the Title.

I'm guessing you weren't making the payments on time?

We had an agreement and he did make the payments for the last 9 months, i give 10k downpayment plus make payments for 2yrs on the car, he was not suppose to be in the title i know that for a fact, so i do not know why he is on it now.

Your story does not jive. If he was not on the title, he could not have been a cosigner. So you are not being quite truthful.

This should teach you that sharing financial obligations without getting married is a very big NO NO.

You failed to make the last nine payments and in order for it not to hurt him he made them? A co-signer assumes responsibility if the borrower (you) can not make the payments.

You can be a cosigner and not be in the title, that is the truth. regardless of the status of the relationship, I trusted him because he trusted me first by being my cosigner so yes i never thought he will used against me when he offer to make the payments and just by a rage took it back, after I stop seeing him for two weeks, I was going to start making the payments, but he just took the car...my question was if i have any rights at all?
