i would like to know how i would go about getting custody of my 13yr old niece? She lives with my sister, but my bother- in -law has half custody to. Her home life is real bad and her dad dosn't do anything to help. Is it posible for me to get her? (MI)

Unless mom an dad agree to grant you custody, you would first have to move to have their custody terminated. And absent some SERIOUS cause, that just is not going to happen.

If she is being abused or neglected, notify CPS or the police. If they end up removing her from the home, you can put your name in the ring to gain at least temporary custody. But, even if she were to be removed and the parents arrested, the goal is almost always family reunification, so the chances of you gaining full and permanent custody is somewhere between slim and none unless the parents' acts have been so heinous that they are going away for a long time.
