What is the name of your state? NY. Hi. In 1993 a woman at my job who is active in NY politics recommended me for a position (unpaid) in NY. I won't identitify the name of the position(a board position) not the facilities/offices involved but I will say that I was fingerprinted and asked a comprehensive list of questions about my credit, phone # accounts, assets, how much $$ I had in banks and mutual funds, etc etc.

I was cleared for the position(I just had to send in a written statement that I would not make statements about the employer i was working for since it represented a conflict of interest) but no one actually contacted me further for the position. I wasn't THAT gung-ho about getting the position (it wasn't much of anything really) but whenever I asked the woman at my job why there was a delay she would always say "you know how the state is, they always delay" or she would give me a reason that maybe they just decided for some reason not to go ahead with my appplication.

About 3 years later in '97 I had found out that a new co-worker had gotten the position through this woman at my job. Though I was annoyed (my relationship with the woman had deteriorated over that time period and we were no longer on good terms), it didn't really bother me that the other worker had gotten the position.

But recently I have been thinking about cases where people's credit histories and assets have been illegally obtained. I am beginning to suspect that this woman may have referred me for this position for no other reason other than having me apply, being investigated for credit and assets, then having her find out about that information and share it with my employer (who does NOTobtain a consumer report on his employeees and is NOT legally entitled to get that information on employees). Sometimes I wonder if i was passed by for better jobs because he found out that I had mutual funds and investments.

is there way I can find out from NY state if that information was compiled and reported to anyone?(I know what you will say that even if it was shared with her they will never admit it). Am I being paranoid about this?

Well thanks for reading

Q: is there way I can find out from NY state if that information was compiled and reported to anyone?

A: Yes. Ask the people who you gave the info to if they reported it to anyone.

" Sometimes I wonder if i was passed by for better jobs because he found out that I had mutual funds and investments. "

Huh? That makes no sense whatsoever.
