Live in California. Received by regular mail court summons, civil suit for breach of contract small claims court in Massachusetts. Said I need to respond within 20 days. I never signed anything to prove receipt of document. Am I still obligated to respond within the 20 days and if so, how do I respond? Do I write a letter to the court stating my side, or do I need to file some kind of legal document and do I need a lawyer to to this?

Thanks much for a speedy reply!
