California: My parents were divorced in 1981 in Pomona, California. Is it possible for me to obtain the court transcripts (depositions) of the divorce? If so, how do I get them?

My response:

Court Reporter's transcripts and Deposition transcripts are two, distinctly different, types of transcripts.

Be that as it may, transcripts that are 20 years old probably don't exist any longer - - however, if you know which courthouse, call the Presiding Judge's office and ask the secretary if there is an "archive" of old cases. Who knows, you might get lucky. But then, there's a very small chance that the Deposition transcripts are in the court file, and an even smaller chance that the original Court Stenographer still has the transcripts after all these years.

You may be hunting for the proverbial "needle in a haystack." And, if you are able to locate them, be prepared to pay a real hefty amount for them.

Good luck.
