What is the name of your state?

Hello: My state is Georgia. I had a VISA card with MBNA which I had problems paying after losing work. The last activity on the card was 08/2000 (I double checked my credit report). What is the statue of limitations for this type of debt collection. Credigy has only started calling me withing the past two weeks and leaving only a first name and urgent message to call them back. I called from an outside phone to see who was calling and found out it was Credigy. Is it true the SOL is only 4 years???? (I believe if it is for Georgia then Credigy is trying to get in before the time runs out in two weeks.)

4 years in Georgia from the date the debt became delinquent, which isn't the date that you last made a payment or last used the card.

Thanks for your response: I did double check my credit report and it shows deliquent June 2000, August 2000, etc. So just to be on the safe side I will go with August 2000. In a few days I will send them a cease and dessit letter.
