i live in florida, palm beach county, i was layed off last year in october, have not found any work so far. i received papers by a sherrif a lawsuit was filed against me. stating i have 20 calendar days after the summons to file a written response to the complaint with the clerk of the court. it states that if i do not response i may lose the case and wages, money and property may thereafter be taken without further warning from the court. there are other legal requirements.
i have no money or property, no equity, i am trying to get back to school for a degree to better my situation. i have every intention of paying back the loans (credit union), but right now i have no money. they refuse to take lower payments, i went to credit consuling, refuse to deal with them and then requested the two loans be payed in full, both equal around 12,000.
my questions is what are my options and how do i tell the judge my situation and request a low payment plan.
need to know me legal rights. thank you
