Are credit card checks subject to chargebacks like a credit card transaction, or are they treated as a regular check? I'm referring to the checks credit card companies send you that you can use to pay bills, etc. and they're treated as a cash advance against your credit line.

I received a large credit card check from someone (they're in Florida) for some merchandise. I told them I would have to wait for the check to clear before I shipped. They were fine with that. But I would also like to make sure they can't come back later and do a chargeback on the check.

Thank you. What is the name of your state?

No, it is the same as a check (the drawer essentially gets a cash advance turned into the check). The only difficulty is that it is very hard to tell when a check actually clears. Do not confuse funds availability at your bank with the clearance. It can take several weeks for a fraudulent or otherwise invalid check to bounce back through your bank.
