My younger sister has gotten into some trouble with a credit card #. She found a # and has charged approx. $800 on it. She was recently caught, by her last purchase....she was using it to pay bills and buy some things. Well, she hasn't been arrested and is waiting to be suppeanad(spl?) This is her first offense, she has never been in trouble before. The detective told her it isn't likely she'll go to jail, probably just some probation, restitution, and fees. How likely is it he is right. She has a baby girl and I'm afraid she'll lose her or be sent away. What usually happens? And is it better to pay what she owes the people now, before court? We live in AZ. Please help A.S.A.P. I'm desparate!!!!!

Calm down and relax. Restitution is always favorable in the eyes of the court. Have her pay the money back and beg for forgiveness. In addition to theft there may also be a charge for forgery. She should get an attorney or ask the court to appoint one for her.
