I live in California with a credit card from one of the big banks. The card company gives 25 days grace period as most credit card company does. We have setup to autopay the statement balance every month. If you somehow pay off the statement manually before the autopay date kicks in. The autopay would still kicks in, so you'll end up a credit balance. The overpayment will also be applied to the current charges you made that supposed to be not due yet. Contacted them and they will not refund me the full amount of the overpayment done by the autopay. They'll only refund me the overpayment amt less the current charges.
Therefore, I was not given 25 days grace in the current charges. Is it illegal for them to continue the 'autopay' if the balance in the statement due has been paid off? Could this be an illegal practice?
