What is the name of your state? I am in CA and the company I am delaing with is in MS. I have a paging account with Skytel. They over charged me for one month and I was in the middle of disputing it when they said "pay 6K or you will be disconnected" my normal monthly charge is $1,200. They said they had to have a cretified check or Western Union. I called the customer service line and my partner paid with his crdit card. Two days later the service was disconnected. I called and they said the charges have been reversed and the service is inteerrupted until a certified check is received - plus they added the current months charges to what had to be paid. I have over 25,000 customers on the Skytel system, which do not have service. I asked for the charge back transaction ID, which they will not give me. We called the credit card company and they said they do not show any charge back, which would show up immediately (actual credit could take several days). I was never notified the system would be turned off - I received a call from a customer and called them to find out what was wrong, which is when they informed me it was interrupted. I have a lot of liability with my customers not having service. I have a merchant account and it is my understanding that is a payment is accepted over the phone and processed it is legal and considered accepted by the receiver of the funds. This situation has damaged my business and may have cause perminate damage - I was in the process of licensing the technology to Audiovox and this has hurt the value. The company is Skytel - owned by MCI. I do not feel the situation was handled properly - what are my rights and/or recourse? I am going to lose a lot of customers. The service has been interrupted since 2/09 and everyday is killing me.

Regards, James

If you are losing business, you need to talk with a lawyer ASAP to get this thing resolved. Any speculation as to who did what and what was right is irrelevant at this point -- get a lawyer to get you out of this mess, then ytou can go abck and do a post-mortem and figure out who to blame and who to get money back from.
